Newcastle Beach, Fort Scratchley and the city skyline from the air

Overview

What we do.

Aerial photography and video sits alongside our commercial work. We shoot high-resolution stills and video from a remotely piloted aircraft, framed to a brief agreed before the flight. The work covers industry, infrastructure, brand and marketing content, tourism, architecture and the coast.

Every job begins with a short conversation about what the images are for and where they will be used. We plan the flight around the light, the weather and the site, fly it, then edit the material into a finished set. Factum Aerial is the aerial arm of the Factum group, based in Newcastle.

Process

How a job runs.

01

Brief

A short conversation covers the purpose of the images, the site, the shots wanted and the deadline. We then send a written quote.

02

Plan

We check the site, the airspace and the forecast, and set a date and a time of day that suits the light.

03

Fly

On the day we set up, fly the planned shots and review them on site before packing down.

04

Edit and deliver

Stills are selected and edited, video is cut and graded, and the finished files are sent by online transfer. Stills are typically delivered within two business days; video within five.

Limits

Where the limits are.

Flights are planned around the site, the airspace and the weather. Where a site or a shot falls outside what can be flown, we say so when we quote and offer an alternative. Weather can move a shoot date, and we reschedule rather than fly in poor light or strong wind.

Common questions

Aerial Photography & Video, answered.

What does an aerial photography shoot cost?
Every job is quoted after a short conversation. The price depends on the site, the number of locations, the shots required and the editing involved. We respond to every enquiry within one business day.
Do you shoot stills and video on the same flight?
Yes. Stills and video can be shot on the same flight, and the quote covers both. Each is edited separately and delivered as its own set of files.
What happens if the weather is poor on the day?
We watch the forecast in the days before a shoot and confirm the day before. If wind or rain makes flying unsafe, or the light is not worth having, we reschedule to the next suitable date.
How far do you travel for a shoot?
Based in Newcastle. Servicing Lake Macquarie, Maitland and the Hunter, Port Stephens, Sydney and regional NSW by arrangement. Travel is set out in the quote.
