Overview

Festivals, sport, community days and private functions.

Factum Aerial photographs outdoor events from the air: festivals, sporting fixtures, community days, venue open days and private functions. The brief is usually the same: the scale of the day, the setting it sits in and the atmosphere on the ground, in stills and short video the organiser can use straight away.

Every event is planned with the organiser before the day. We agree what matters, where we can fly, when the key moments fall and how the footage will be used. On the day we work quietly around the program, and the flight follows the plan rather than the crowd.

Uses

What event footage is used for.

Festivals and markets

Wide shots of the site at full stretch, stage and stall layouts seen from height, and the grounds in their setting. Used for sponsors, grant reporting and next year's promotion.

Sport and recreation

Establishing shots of ovals, courses, courts and open water, with the field of play in its setting. Flown from the edge of the venue so the whole course or ground is in frame.

Community and council days

Fairs, openings, parades and commemorations, recorded for the organiser's records and public communications.

Venues and open days

Function centres, wineries, clubs and showgrounds photographed with an event in progress, so the venue is seen in use rather than empty.

Private functions

Weddings and celebrations held on private property, with a short set of aerial stills and clips that sit alongside the ground photographer's work.

Before, peak and pack-down

The site before gates open, at its busiest and after pack-down. A simple series that shows the whole arc of the day.

Process

How an event job runs.

01

Brief and quote

A short conversation about the event, the site, the date and the shots that matter. Every job is quoted on that basis. We respond to every enquiry within one business day.

02

Site walk and flight plan

Before the day we walk the site with the organiser and agree a flight plan: launch and landing points, the areas we will fly, timing against the program and a contact on the ground. For smaller functions this can be done from a site plan and a phone call.

03

On the day

We arrive before the first flight window, check in with the organiser and fly to the plan. Flights are short and timed to the moments agreed. We stay clear of the program, the ground crew and the other photographers.

04

Edit and delivery

Stills and video are edited and supplied by download link. Stills are typically delivered within two business days; video within five.

Limits

What we do not do.

We do not fly over crowds, guests or spectators, and we photograph and film events from positions clear of the gathering itself, with camera positions agreed with you beforehand. If wind, rain or poor visibility close a flight window on the day, the flight waits or is rescheduled, and the organiser is told as early as possible.

Common questions

Events, answered.

Can you fly over the crowd?
No. We do not fly over crowds, guests or spectators. Event shots are wide and establishing views taken from positions clear of the gathering itself, and the flight plan agreed with the organiser sets the camera positions and when we fly from them.
What happens if the weather turns?
Flights do not go ahead in rain, strong wind or poor visibility. We watch the forecast in the days before the event and talk to the organiser about the likely windows. If a window is lost on the day, we fly the next available one or reschedule by agreement.
Can you work alongside our ground photographer?
Yes. Aerial stills and clips are shot to sit alongside the ground photographer's or videographer's work. We coordinate timing on the day so the drone is not in their frame at key moments, and files can be supplied in a format that suits their edit.
How quickly is the footage ready?
Stills are typically delivered within two business days; video within five. Files are supplied by download link. Any specific deadline is agreed in the quote.
